Some of the biggest names in indie games are teaming up to put on a ‘no fluff’ showcase of new game announcements-

French indie studio Evil Empire, which has spent the last five years working on expansions for roguelike sensation Dead Cells, prides itself on being a “triple I” developer: independent, but still big enough to make “world-class” games. Evil Empire likes the label so much, in fact, that it’s spent the past few months organizing a new showcase with some other indie superstars, including the developers of Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, Vampire Survivors, and Terraria. The Triple-I Initiative will be streaming on April 10 and will show off more than 30 games.

“We did collaborations with many indie studios [for Dead Cells]: Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain, Terraria,” Evil Empire’s marketing director Bérenger Dupré told me in an interview at last week’s Game Developers Conference. “It was a cool experience taking those games and putting them into Dead Cells, but we were always wondering if there was a way to collaborate with our indie friends outside of games.”

When Evil Empire started getting ready to announce its next game, the team thought there was an opportunity for a showcase that sat somewhere between the triple-A announcements of The Game Awards and more niche events like, say, the Wholesome Direct. A few months later, they’d managed to bring together enough indie developers to fill a 45 minute event. “Back-to-back trailers, no hosts or sponsorships, no extra fluff,” Dupré said.

“[Evil Empire] were clear that they had a threshold for the type of announcement that they wanted: they wanted to deliver something really punchy and surprising, and we love surprising,” said Chris Bourassa, co-founder of Darkest Dungeon developer Red Hook Studios. Bourassa said that the Red Hook team hustled to get something ready to show for the April 10th event.

Casey Yano, co-founder of Slay the Spire team Mega Crit, said they were trying to decide how to announce their next game when the Triple-I Initiative came up. “We [thought], maybe these guys need our help, and I want to make this event big. Especially after watching The Game Awards—I don’t want to be super inflammatory, but games that aren’t visually impressive don’t really get a lot of clout … I don’t really want to be on there; I feel out of place. I want to really resonate with people who are more into core experience games.”

“It’s been really great working with these guys,” Yano added. “It could’ve been kind of nonchalant, not very interesting, but it’s going to be pretty hype, I think.”

You can see a full list of the studios participating in the showcase below. The Triple-I Initiative will be streaming on YouTube, Twitch and other platforms on April 10 at 10 am Pacific / 5 pm GMT.

Call Of Duty Season 4 Coming June 17 For Warzone, Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty’s new season for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will begin in the midst of E3, and to set the stage, Treyarch and Activision have announced the details of what we can expect. Season 4 is set to begin on June 17.

During Summer Game Fest, the developer revealed that it’s bringing a lot of new content to Call of Duty in the new season, including new maps, modes, and Zombie content. The announcement trailer showed off a quick look at the Collateral, Amsterdam, and Hijacked maps. While Amsterdam supports 2v2 battles, Hijacked is built for normal 6v6 modes and Collateral for 6v6 and 12v12. In addition, the trailer suggests that Warzone will “break orbit” and that it’s adding something called Zombies Uncaged. Come from Sports betting site VPbet

Super Mario Party Jamboree Review – This Party Is Too Crowded

After a significant post-GameCube slump, the Mario Party franchise showed signs of new life in its first two titles on the Switch. While both Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars were commercial successes and well-received by fans, the former leaned a bit too heavily on a new Ally system while the latter was essentially a “greatest hits” of classic maps and minigames. As the console approaches the end of its lifecycle, Super Mario Party Jamboree ends this Switch trilogy by attempting to find the sweet spot between its two predecessors and stumbles into an issue of quantity over quality in the process.

One aspect that Jamboree inarguably has going for it is sheer quantity. Nintendo touts this entry as having the most playable characters (22) and most minigames (112) in any Mario Party ever. A big roster isn’t necessarily a bad thing, although I have one nitpicky complaint about Bowser’s inclusion. I’ve got no beef with the man—he’s been a playable …

The Stanley Parable Review

I have always been someone who wants to go the “wrong” way first in games. When I sense that a game is trying to usher me down a particular path, to get me to run from left to right or maybe to charge straight ahead, I need to satisfy my instinct to go against the grain, to explore, to see what the designers have put back the other way. Sometimes I find a 1-up or a collectible stashed away to reward me for my intrepid behavior. At other times, my explorations are rewarded only by the crushing disappointment of running up against an invisible wall. Whatever I find or don’t find, my action is a manifestation of my desire to exert some independence, to make my own choices within a system that severely limits my options and encourages certain, specific behaviors.

In The Stanley Parable, you control Stanley, aka employee #427, a cog in a machine, an employee in a system that offers him no options and demands certain, specific behaviors. He sits in his drab, tiny office, waiting for…

Cambodia maintains coronavirus-related closure of Sihanoukville casinos

Cambodian officials are reportedly continuing to prohibit the southern seaside resort communities of Sihanoukville and Prey Nop from re-opening their casinos following the implementation in October of a complete closure linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report from Inside Asian Gaming, the injunction comes as the central government announced that it will be continuing its designation of Preah Sihanouk Province as a ‘yellow zone’ with regards to coronavirus. The source detailed that such a traffic-light classification, while not as proscriptive as the more serious ‘red zone’ allocation, nevertheless outlaws the operation of a wide range of non-essential venues including casinos.

Continuing consternation:
